Upon graduating Michigan State University’s Viticulture and Enology Program, Drew decided to head west to gain experience in Napa. After spending six months working in the cellars, he realized he was more interested in contributing to a new and emerging wine industry in his home state and returned to work in Northwest Michigan at Left Foot Charley in 2007. Drew took advantage of the opportunity to work with many custom crush clients, which gave him a unique understanding of many vineyard sites on the Leelanau Peninsula as well as Old Mission.  He decided to take this vast experience and move to work with Simpson Family Estates  managing the custom crush facility on the Leelanau Peninsula where he continues to consult with a variety of wineries on their wine production.  His passion and mission is to elevate the wines on the Leelanau Peninsula and offer his clients the best of what the Peninsula can produce.

Like that indescribable hue of a Leelanau sunset, this Rose provokes carefree delight.

White

Indulge in this beautifully easy-to-drink, dry white wine. Refreshing with a little creaminess. Experience a twinkle of acidity stemming from lime and orange zest alongside the juiciness of ripe pear, honeysuckle and peach.   The palate dances with vibrant notes all elevated by high acidity. 

The chardonnay grape is one of the world's most popular.  And we get why.  Dune Bird's Chardonnay is an exceptional example of how the cool climate in northern Michigan aids in producing this type of lean, mineral-forward style that we keep un-oaked for that "just right" crisp factor.  Pair this chardonnay with an array of foods from local whitefish to sushi, and enjoy that clean finish with palate-pleasing notes of light lemon zest, big apple, and limestone.

Unoaked Chardonnay

Mouth-watering and tantalizing, this dry white will surprise you with perfect acidity and aromas of white peach and lillies.  Discover it's elegance with a palate that unfolds into even guava and yellow apple. Medium acidity and incredibly harmonious.  

Dry Riesling

Red Blend

A dry red that marries Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah varietals. AV8 commemorates our love of the horizon and our passion to get above it. It celebrates that meeting of earth and sky with an earthy nose + ethereal hints of raspberries and vanilla. AV8 is as elegant and dynamic as the sky is to us.  

AV8 is a dry wine that offers a captivating sensory experience. on the nose, you'll discover alluring notes of black pepper and blackberry, setting the stage for what's to come. The palate unfolds with a harmonious blend of flavors, including the richness of blueberry, the warmth of baking spice, and then a subtle kick of chili pepper. Medium tannins provide a balanced structure to this intriguing wine.


Pie Chaser is a dry wine that offers a delightful combination of aromas and flavors. As a smooth red blend made from predominantly Merlot, Pie Chaser also showcases interesting cool climate varietals: marechal foch and leon millot. Fruit forward + velvety tannins. Look for aromas of strawberry and subtle oak. 

On the nose, you'll be greeted with sugary raisin notes along with hints of cola, strawberry and raspberry. As you take a sip, the palate unfolds with a dominant presence of red fruit flavors, particularly strawberry, sour cherry and cranberry. The wine boasts a low tannin level, contributing to its smooth and approachable character.

Pie Chaser

Crisp and bright, with white nectarine, peach and citrus notes, this 100% Pinot Gris sparkling wine is as fun as Fishtown and enticing as the Lake. Celebrate your Leland memories on the beach or boat or around the dinner table and remember why they call this, the Land of Delight.  

Dry and bubbly, Pure Leland features expressive aromas like green apple on the nose and slow forming bubbles that give this sparkling wine a rich mouthfeel with a zesty acidity.

Silky tannins and a long, smooth finish make this highly sought-after varietal one of the most noteworthy cool climate reds in Leelanau Peninsula. Catch notes of cranberry, spice and earth. We like to call it velvet in a glass.

On the nose: become captivated with fig, anise, and ripe black cherry aromas. The palate unfolds with rhubarb, bell pepper, black cherry, and a hint of pepper, all complemented by a light body and medium tannins, creating an exquisite tasting experience.
